Times Argus

This is about the article regarding the state providing data on health care costs in Thursday’s Times Argus.

While it is applaudable to have that data, it will prove unusable until we get to a single-payer system. At the moment people are controlled by their insurance company to stay within the network. So even if costs/charges are lower at another facility — if it is outside my network — I cannot go to use their services unless I pay more. Let’s get realistic about how that data will be used. Not until there is a single-payer system where every facility and doctor’s office and clinic in the state is in the network.
